This week we will be expanding on our SUMO paint knowledge and practice using online tools to create, save, and publish our creations.  We will also be introducing the use of online tutorials to help us find answers to our questions independently.

Sumo Paint is an online image editor, without need to install anything to your device. It’s the most versatile photo editor and painting application that works in a browser. You can open and save images from your hard drive or save it to cloud (Google Drive).

Smithsonian Museum of Natural History Virtual Field Trip

Today we are taking a virtual field trip of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. You will be working in groups to explore this amazing museum, practice using a map to navigate, and fill out the scavenger hunt Google form as you learn. Take your time while browsing to be sure that you and your partner get the full experience. You will be submitting your form at the end of class.

Some things to consider:

– Both you and your partner should have the tour up on your screens.
-You only have to fill out one Museum Scavenger Hunt Google Form.
– Make sure that you answer all questions in complete sentences.
-Try your best to get to all of the exhibits.
– Museum Must Sees! ( http://naturalhistory.si.edu/visit/mustsees.html )
– Have fun! Of course you are here to learn, but honestly, I want you to have first. Shhhh….Don’t tell anyone!

Science Animal Video Review

1st and 2nd grade will be watching an informative video about an animal.  they will then be summarizing what they learned using a Google Form.

Week 15: March 7th – 11th

— GRADE 1 —

1st Grade will work with Mr. Mause to identify important facts/reasons to support our persuasive opinion.

Mrs. Clay is thinking about making your recess time longer!!!!  She has asked that students come up with some good reasons why we should have a longer recess.  Let’s watch the video below and see if we can come up with some good reasons together.  After we have watched the video and made a list, you are going to go to your seats and submit the reasons that you liked the most to Mrs. Clay.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed!


— GRADE 2 —

Introduction to Research

Our 1st grade students will be using World Book Online – The Cat to research information on cats.  They will then use this Google Form to reflect/summarize on their findings.

Building on our Research Skills

Our 2nd grade students will be using World Book Online – The Moon to research information on the moon.  They will then use this Google Form to reflect/summarize on their findings.


— GRADES 3, 4, 5 —

Presentations that Catch the Eye

Our 3rd – 5th grade students will be learning how to jazz up their Google Slides presentations to ensure that they catch their readers eye.

Students will learn how to:

  1. Use the G-Slides templates
  2. Add animations to their slides
  3. Effectively collaborate with others on creating one slideshow.

Typing Practice

Review of Typing Stage 1: Demonstrate how to use Dance Mat Typing stage one, level one ( ASDF,JKL; and G, H ). Review the homerow and proper finger technique.

Typing Practice Stage 1 – 3 :

Mini-Lesson – 10 minute demonstration/Lesson

Practice – 25-30 minutes or until done.
